When/Who founded the funding agency? Toby: The foundation in Monaco was founded in 1964, which was started by Princess Grace herself. The foundation in the U.S was founded in 1982, by Prince Rainier. Why was the foundation in the U.S started? T.B: Prince Rainier started the foundation in memory of Grace after she died to make her dream come true. Her goal was to spread the foundation to the U.S, to support students involved in the arts, theater, film and dance pursue their dreams, get their first job, and get into Academies with scholarships and more. How do the foundations support the artist? T.B: Friends of Grace like Frank Sinatra and Lynn Wyatt were the founding board. Grace would support artist anonymously in an informal process. We award grants in the form of scholarships, apprenticeships, fellowships, theater work, and published work in agencies. What type of foundations are they? T.B: They are non-profit organizations that support artist in theater, dance and film. Are there any other extended (special) awards? T.B: Yes, the Princess Grace Stature Award is the highest honor, those who receive the award are eligible for a play-writing published mainly in New York and receive $25,000 cash gift. What more is there about the foundation in Monaco? T.B: Princess Caroline is now the president. The foundation is world-wide, it supports children and students. |
